Last week, the Cabonne Community Centre was alive with energy as senior students from Canowindra High School, Molong Central School – NSW DoE, and Yeoval Central School came together for a meaningful Youth Week event facilitated by Cabonne Council.
The day began with a powerful traditional smoking ceremony led by Dale Carr, warmly welcoming everyone to Wiradjuri Country.
This was followed by a Human Rights Workshop, hosted by Hugh Kinsley, Managing Director of The Brainary.
The workshop featured Lorraine Finlay from the Australian Human Rights Commission, who shared an inspiring message:
“Rather than focusing on the things we can’t change, we as individuals can make a difference in people’s lives.”
Her words resonated with the sentiment of Margaret Mead, reminding us that “a small group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
The morning’s Human Rights Workshop was complemented by engaging STEM activities in the afternoon, making it a day filled with learning, reflection, and empowerment.
Cabonne Council remains committed to empowering our youth and bringing human rights to life.
