MEN’S BOWLS
Last Saturday the Major Fours Final was played. Bob Bates, Jono, Cyril and Bruce fought against Pat, Pete, Roger and Dool. The game was a one sided affair, with Dool’s team combining well to lead throughout and eventually win the game 31-9. An O’Brien Cup match was also played with Steve Kirkman and Duncan against Kenny and Sparky. Steve and Duncan led throughout the game to have a comfortable win of 38-22.

Last Sunday the Major Singles Final was played with Brent Lees against Vinnie Mirto. The game was worthy of a finale with the scores close throughout the game. After 16 ends the scores were equal at 11 all then after 26 ends the scores were level at 19 all. On the 32nd end Vinnie scored four shots to lead the game 27-22. But then in a dramatic turnaround Brent scored 6 shots in the next two ends to lead 28-27. In the next end Vinnie levelled the scores 28 all and in the next two ends Brent scored three shots to win the match 31-28!

Two consistency singles games were played. Cyril Webb played Pat Kennedy with Cyril winning 156-129 while Roger Traves played Nigel Knight with Roger winning 150-125. Saturday July 2nd is the Major Pairs Final; B Lees and D Beath v M Wright and I Nelder. O’Brien Cup; N Delaney and M Lawrence vs K Walker and R Brooks. M Baldwin and R Traves vs P Sargent and V Mirto. Sunday July 3rd will feature a mixed mufti bowls with names in by 1.30pm for 2.30pm start.

Mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday June 30th with names in by 1.30pm for 2.30pm start. All are welcome and you are encouraged to bring a friend. Members are also reminded that membership subscriptions are now due for 2016-2017.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
There were three games of social bowls, one triples and two three bowl pairs played on Tuesday 28th June. Moyna Rue and Nancy Morrow defeated Colleen Crump and Jill Messenger 11-8. Joice McNaught and Deanna Noble defeated Linda Miller and Libby Balcombe 13-10.

Diane Slattery, Radka Tatterson and Sheryn O’Malveney defeated Jenny Middleton, Daph Bryant and Shirley Robson. The Lucky Draw was won by Linda Miller with No. 22. A report on the Annual General Meeting will be given in next week’s news.
