MEN’S BOWLS
Last Sunday a major triples match was played with Garry Fairley, Ron Symons and Pete McVicker against Steve Kirkman, Cyril and Bruce Webb. Being relatively new players, Garry’s team put up a good show against a more experienced team. Bruce’s team won the game 28-16.
Saturday August 18 – Consistency singles- V Mirto v K Walker, Marker A Wyburn. C Webb v P Taylor, Marker R Traves. R Symons v W Fisher, Marker P Kennedy. D Beath v M McMullen, Marker P Makin.
Sunday August 19 – Major Triples- A Robson, A Wyburn and M Lawrence v P Taylor, D Beath and R Traves. Consistency singles- S Kirkman v T Tuimauga, Marker P McVicker. P Lees v G Fairley, Marker L Nunn. B Lees v T Bates, Marker G Burrows. Z Lees v N Knight, Marker D Watt. Nominations are now called for the O’Brien Cup.
Sunday badge draw will be $1000 and will be drawn between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. Must be in the club to win. Raffles will be drawn at 5.30pm with tickets on sale from 4.00pm. Friday badge draw will be $700.
WOMEN’S BOWLS
The Handicap Pairs was played Tuesday 14 August with the following results: D. Bryant & D. Noble def M. Wilson & G. Haydon 25-5. L. Stevenson & J. Davies def P. Nash & B. Jenkins 23-14. D. Slattery & J. Messenger won on a forfeit from M. Rue & S. McDonald.
There were two games of social bowls – N. Morrow & Jenny Middleton def L. Miller & D. Mooney 21-11 and a game of triples between J. Wheeldon, B. Turner & J. Messenger def J. Wythes, F. Slattery & L. Thornberry 23-16.
Games set down for 21 August in the Handicap pairs are between: L. Thornberry & C. Pickard v D. Slattery & J. Messenger; K. Cox & D. Mooney v L. Stevenson & J. Davies.
K.Cox & D. Mooney won on a forfeit from L. Miller & C. Crump. The monthly meeting will be held next week bowlers.
