MEN’S BOWLS
Last Friday night twilight barefoot bowls commenced with six teams competing. The winners were Greg, Wendy and Tracy and the runners up were Vinnie, Betty and Tony. Last Saturday an O’Brien Cup match was played with Allan Wyburn and Peter Taylor against Steve Fisher and Bruce Webb. After four ends Allan and Peter had a handy lead of 18-7 then Steve and Bruce won the next seven ends to lead 20-18. For the rest of the game the scores were close with Steve and Bruce winning the game 28-26.

Friday October 13 – Twilight barefoot bowls being mixed mufti turn around triples with prize money proudly sponsored by the bar staff. Winners will receive $180 and runners up will receive $60. Names in by 6.00pm for 6.30pm start. One game of 15 ends with entry fee being $21 per team. First 14 teams accepted.

Saturday October 14 – O’Brien Cup – N Delaney and P Lees v S Fisher and B Webb. Mixed pairs – M Wright and G Haydon v M Cramp and N Morrow. B Robson and S Robson v I Nelder and L Burgess.

Sunday October 15 – Consistency singles – B Webb v M Lawrence and Marker D Beath. Mixed pairs – P Taylor and J Middleton v D Watt and A Zaino. R Lynch and S McDonald v C & L Balcombe. V Mirto and J McNaught v C Webb and K Cox.

Coming event – Sunday October 22 – Bob Bates Presidents Day. 9.00am for 9.30am start. Three games of 12 ends. Chinese lunch. $75 per team.

The Wednesday badge draw is $150 and Friday badge draw is $500. Bingo this Thursday 11am.

WOMEN’S BOWLS
Four games of social bowls were played on Tuesday 10th October, 1 three bowl pairs and 3 triples. Deanna Noble and Penny Nash defeated Jill Messenger and Joyce Middleton 21-13. Linda Miller, Jeanette Wheeldon and Marion Wilson defeated Jenny Daly, Liz Thornberry and Sandy McDonald 33-9. Bobbie Turner, Betty Jenkins and Dianne Mooney had a 19 all draw against Jenny Middleton, Leanne Stevenson and Daph Bryant. Shirley Robson, Moyna Rue and Joice McNaught defeated Pauline Carroll and Anne Zaino 19-16. Pauline played lead and second.

The Lucky Draw was won by Liz Thornberry with No. 13.

The Canowindra team of Janice Crump, Ellen Petty, Christine Pickard and Gwen Haydon contested in the Jess Knight Challenge Shield, which was held at Orange City on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th October, Libby Balcombe played for Heather Hoad in a Cowra team.

Two Canowindra teams will represent our club at Parkes President’s Day being held on Tuesday 17th October, the two teams are Liz Thornberry, Jill Messenger and Jenny Middleton and Jeanette Wheeldon, Betty Jenkins and Marion Wilson. Good Luck.
