Last weekend the 21st anniversary tournament was held with 14 teams competing on Saturday in the triples and 22 teams on Sunday for the Ron Worboys Memorial Pairs. Both Bruce and Graeme Worboys were present on Sunday to play in the 21st anniversary of the event that bears their father’s name. Thanks to Bob Bates and his committee and the board limited for working together to make the tournament run smoothly. Special thanks to David Beath for coordinating the tournament and overcoming problems with late cancellations. Also thanks to the Bowling Ladies who catered on both days. Special thanks to the sponsors as without them the tournament would not run. Also thanks to Ron Lynch for donating raffles on both days. Saturday’s winners were Geoff Flannery’s team from Eugowra and runners up were Phill Lees team from Blayney. Sunday’s winners were Bruce and Cyril Webb and the runners up were Les Ryan from Cumnock and John Pickard.
Mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday 2nd February with names in by 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start and twilight barefoot bowls will continue on Friday 3rd February with names in by 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. Last Friday night Larry Nunn and David Watt played barefoot bowls for the first time with David being on the winning team.
Coming event Friday February 10th Mixed mufti triples bowls with prize money of $200 proudly sponsored by Canowindra Womens Bowling Club. Names in by 6.00pm for 6.30pm start. A game of 15 ends with $7 entry fee. Great opportunity for non bowlers to come along and have a good night. Barbeque available.
Wednesday badge draw is $950 and Fri- day badge draw is $300. Bingo this Thursday 11am.
