Fairy lights, Christmas trees, reindeers, snowflakes, Santa’s and even an open fireplace with stockings were just some of the Christmas items on display for the annual Christmas in July Window Display Competition that has been running for the month of July in Canowindra. The Canowindra Phoenix hosts the event each year and encourages local businesses to get involved and decorate their shop windows to help drive visitors to our Village.
Once again The Canowindra Phoenix Christmas in July Window Display Competition was proudly supported by Cabonne Council under the Events Assistance Program.
Cabonne Council has proudly donated the prizes to the winning businesses and we thank them for their continued support!
“It was so great to see over 15 businesses along Gaskill St get involved this year, it really brightens up the town during winter and brings in visitors from as far as Canberra which is a great boost to the local businesses,” said Sarah Maynard, Publisher of The Phoenix Group of Newspapers.
Many visitors to town have commented on how great the windows looked especially at night time when all the fairy lights are on.
Judging took place last Wednesday with the Phoenix team of Sarah and Roselea and Cabonne Councillor Cheryl Newsom helping out.
The winner was The Blue Bowerbird for their entertaining window, Debbie Rice at Canowindra Newsagency took out 2nd place and Debbie Guihot from The Plague and I won the People’s Choice Award on votes.
