Canowindra Newsagency is one of 147 in store Westpac agencies that will all be closed on the 4th September 2015. Graham Rice, owner of Canowindra Newsagency said they were advised a few weeks ago of this decision by Westpac. The newsagency has held the agency for over 16 years and has enabled Graham and Debbie to employ many young students on a part time basis during this time. This decision will obviously impact on the number of jobs available and some decisions will have to be made later in the year. It is a blow to Canowindra, and other rural towns, particularly where the Westpac agency is the only banking facility available.
