Canowindra’s social event of the year – Tommy Jeffs’ birthday party and the official opening of Montrose House – was a huge success on Saturday night with 160 people coming through the doors.
Tommy pulled out all the stops with a generous offering of food, and drinks flowing all night. Shane Kerr from Cowra entertained the crowd with acoustic jams that had the party rocking and guests admired the interior design and landscaping work that has been carried out on the property over the last six weeks.
“It was a sensational night, as expected,” Tommy said on Monday. “Canowindra stepped up and partied like they’re famous for.” A diverse mixture of people attended the night, with all ages from 20 year olds to
those in their 90s and an interesting blend of religions in what Tommy described as “the perfect launch for Montrose House”.
“I wanted to create a great atmosphere on Saturday night and with the people of Canowindra, it’s just an easy call,” said Tommy. The transformation of the old gallery into the new Montrose House at Riverbank created a whirlwind of activity in Gaskill Street with Tommy using all local tradesmen and resources to get the job done. Although the job took six weeks, this overhaul was a big
job and happened in an incredibly short time.
Montrose House is a wonderful new addition to Canowindra’s dining out scene with Tommy announcing he will soon be doing dining on Monday and Tuesday evenings to meet a demand in the local market. Bookings will be essential.
