The 6th Annual Baroquefest made it’s triumphant return after a two year break due to COVID. Over 140 people attended the three-day celebration of Baroque music.
Event participants were treated to a journey through Italian high Baroque, the Byzantine sacred music of the Middle Ages, to the bawdy drinking songs of the British Isles.
Commencing at All Saints Church Canowindra on Friday evening, Camerata Antica set the scene for a weekend of musical masterpieces.
On Saturday, Perennialle Plants transformed their shed into a concert hall for the Pearls of Baroque concert, the large area accommodating the Baroque Harpsichord beautifully.
Rosnay Organic opened their new cellar door for the final performance by Camerata Antica, a collection of folk songs and dance tunes.
“Thanks to the NSW Government, Destination NSW and Cabonne Council for their financial assistance for this year’s Baroquefest. Our thanks are also due to several benefactors whose generosity will help to secure Baroquefest’s future,” said Richard Statham, Baroquefest Committee Organiser.
While Baroquefest was twice postponed, committee member Judy McLaren managed to organise, in conjunction with Musica Viva, three valuable Baroquefest schools programs where 300 children attended.
“Personal thanks to our hardworking committee which collectively holds a multitude of talents and professional skills, enabling the good barque Baroquefest to hold her course despite sometimes ill winds and stormy seas,” concluded Richard.
