Ava Thornberry has been awarded the WSSA Junior Sportsperson of the year.
Canowindra High School student Ava Thornberry has been awarded the WSSA (Western School Sports Association) Junior Sportsperson of the year. The award was selected from all students in years 3 – 9 across 200 Western Area schools.
Ava has represented Canowindra High School, Western Area and the CHS State team to a very high standard in swimming.
In 2025, Ava achieved amazing results at the State Championships including finalist in the 100m breaststroke, silver in the 100m freestyle and a gold medal in the 14-year girls 50m freestyle, becoming the State Champion. From here Ava was a finalist in the NSW All schools Championships
