Australian Women are Getting Fatter and More Anxious.

23 July, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

In the new state of the nation health study, the report by Roy Morgan Research found that Australian women are drinking and smoking less but are getting more anxious and carrying more weight.

Three in five Australian adults are still over- weight despite becoming a nation of ‘weight watchers’. We worry about our weight. We think about our weight. We monitor the calories we eat and yet our weight continues to increase. We have signed up for more weight loss programs and gym memberships than ever before but the facts show it’s not work- ing and our biggest concern for mental health is anxiety.

What is the answer? While our body is stressed our normal functioning of digesting and metabolising, along with immune sup- port and many other bodily functions simply are unable to work. We think we need to do more, yet the answer is do less! Slow down, breathe, meditate.

Just 20 minutes of meditation a day has shown to significantly decrease anxiety lev- els and improve weight loss. Courses that teach the scientific changes that occur during stress and meditation as well as the how-to’s of meditation show a better rate of consistency with maintaining a regular practice than trying to initiate your practice alone.

Take time for your health. You’ll see more benefits than you imagined possible simply by slowing down. We’d love to share our knowledge with you!
