As the pool season comes to an end so too does the Aqua Fitness Class. The Aqua Fitness Class was quite popular again this season and again have had another successful year. “It has been fabulous, we have only missed about one due to weather, so everyone has been very committed. We just wish it could go on a bit longer,” said Angela Ellis.
Working out in the water is one of the best forms of exercise you can do as it builds cardio, strength and resistance. “It is an activity they can do without impacting on their joints,” says Angela Ellis. Water aerobics builds muscle strength but also improves flexibility, alleviates pressure on joints, relieves stress and anxiety, burns calories, reduces blood pressure and is a popular activity not limited to any age group.
Congratulations to all who participated this season on a great effort and commitment to the program. With so many great benefits be sure to jump on board next season if you missed out to help improve your lifestyle. For now here are some other ideas to stay active
over the cooler months. A moderate intensity aerobic activity is best for seniors or those who may struggle to perform other sporting activities. These include walking, ballroom and line dancing, riding a bike on level ground, pushing a lawn mower and playing doubles tennis, just to name a few.
Getting out and being active can help you loose or maintain weight, enhances mobility and flexibility, improves sleep, boosts mood and self confidence as well as being a great way to help deal with stress or mental illness. As the cooler days approach it is just as
important to get out and be active, even if you want to stay out of the cold choose activities that you can do inside.
