6am: Canowindra RSL Sub-Branch would like to encourage the community to participate in RSL Australia’s initiative “Light Up The Dawn” at home. This allows participants to take a moment out the front of their home, to light a candle and remember the sacrifice our ANZACs made, whilst maintaining social distance. Participants can stream or download the service online here: www.lightupthedawn.com.au
11am: A shortened service will be held at the cenotaph in Memorial Park. This is a ticketed service. Free tickets can be obtained at the Canowindra Newsagency or the Canowindra Services Club. The service will be primarily devoted to wreath laying, due to COVID restrictions. Anyone can lay a wreath, whether they hold a ticket or not. Please meet at the main gate at 10:30am to ensure your name is on the list for wreath laying. Ticket holders are asked to arrive early to the service to ensure there is enough time to sign in using the Government’s COVID-Safe app. There will be two additional entrances to facilitate ease of entry.
“We are disappointed that we cannot meet together to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the RSL in Canowindra this year as we would like to. Anzac Day is a special day where we remember those who sacrificed their lives. We hope to be back to normal next year,” Christine McIlvain, Secretary, Canowindra RSL Sub-Branch. Any enquiries please contact Christine McIlvain on 6344 2916.
