ANZAC Day is an extremely important day in our culture, and Canowindra RSL sub-Branch is happy to organise the commemorations again this year for the community of Canowindra, marking the 109th anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli.
The program for Thursday 25th April will start with the Dawn Service in Memorial Park, Gaskill Street Canowindra at 6am followed by a Gun Fire breakfast in the Canowindra Services and Citizen Club.
There will be a small wreath-laying ceremony at the Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital at 9am, this small commemoration acknowledges the hospital’s status as a war memorial.
The main service will commence at 11am in Memorial Park once the march has concluded.
If you intend to march, please meet in Tilga Street near the Junction Hotel at 10:30am to form up and march off at approximately 10:40am. Just a reminder about medal protocol, if you are wearing someone else’s medals they are to be worn on the right-hand side.
If you would like to lay a wreath at the main service, please have your name marked off or added to the list which will be at the main entrance to the park before the main service begins.
The ANZAC day service in Canowindra is always very well attended, and this year will undoubtedly be the same.
