Another Successful Fete At Moyne Aged Care Centre

22 May, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Every year during the month of May, the staff at Moyne Aged Care Centre host a community fete, drawing in hundreds of people from the local area of Canowindra. This year, the fete was held on Saturday 4 May, and Melissa Delaney, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Moyne Aged Care Centre, shares a recap of this year’s event.

“The Moyne Aged Care Centre Fete was held on Saturday 4 May. The weather was perfect for our outdoor event, which encouraged members of the community to come along and find a bargain or two. Numbers were down on previous years, and so were donations, but in the current situation with the drought, we were delighted with the outcome of the day. Over $5,500 was raised for the needs of our residents,” said Melissa.

“Many local and regional businesses contributed donations of vegetables, giftware, kitchen appliances, pet food, plants and much more. We had the Cowra Antique Car Club visit us, and the children from Alikinetic Dance Studio perform for us. Students from Stacey’s Singing School also entertained the crowd,” continued Melissa.

“I would like to thank everyone who assisted in making the day such a success. Whether you helped make lamingtons, set up stalls, run a stall or help me put the hard yards in with setting up and packing up, collecting donations and all of the other jobs involved in running such a significant event. Our fete could not run without the generosity of others, and for this, we are truly thankful,” said Ms Delaney.
