CUMNOCK LAWN MOWER RACE
Calare is well known for its iconic motor racing events and over the weekend, all eyes were on Cumnock for the annual Cumnock Show Lawn Mower Race. Defending champ, Ross Cary was back again and before the big race I took his lawn mower for a couple of test laps to run it in.
Ross’s high performance mower has a top speed of just over 90 kph! Despite losing the chain while leading the first race, Ross still managed to pull off second place in the next race. A truly heroic effort! Congratulations also to the Cumnock Show Society who organised another wonderful show!
SNOWY HYDRO 2.0
Every Australian should be confident that they can turn the lights on when they need them. To ensure this, the Coalition Government
have announced an electricity gamechanger: the plan for the Snowy Mountains Scheme 2.0. The Government will increase the generation of the Snowy Hydro scheme by 50%, adding 2000 megawatts of re-newable energy to the National Electricity Market – enough to power half a million Australian homes. This will be the largest facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
Snowy Hydro already provides back up energy to New South Wales and Victoria and could extend to South Australia when expanded.
This exciting plan would also create jobs for thousands in the construction and engineering sectors. A feasibility study is expected to be completed before the end of the year, with construction commencing soon after.
