CANOWINDRA BALLOON GLOW
The 2017 Canowindra Balloon Glow was a stunning success over the weekend with record crowds for a truly international event. I
along with thousands of others had a terrific time! Congratulations to Graham and Jan Kerr, along with their organising team and the
hundreds of volunteers on a job well done. Special mention must also go to Cabonne Council and Destination NSW for their support
of this magnificent event. This event continues to grow each year and I am already looking forward to next year.
PROTECTING AUSTRALIAN JOBS AND CITIZENSHIP BASED ON AUSSIE VALUES
The Federal Government has announced that the 457 Visa program for foreign workers will be scrapped and replaced with a new temporary visa restricted to critical skills shortages. While there is no doubt that foreign workers have played an integral role in the growth of our nation, this will guarantee that Australian workers are given first priority for jobs. Changes have also been announced for the Citizenship Test, putting Australian values at the heart of our migration policy, including better background checks to weed
out criminals, requirements to pass a standalone English test, a new and meaningful questions that assess an applicant’s understanding of Australian values, steps the application has taken to integrate and contribute to Australian community and an automatic fail for applicants who cheat the test. People who don’t support our democracy should not be allowed in.
CANOWINDRA BOWLING CLUB
I recently became a member of this great club and am looking forward to rolling a few down as soon as I get a chance!
