Businesses in Canowindra are being urged to continue showing their impressive Christmas decorations in their shop’s windows on Gaskill Street, with just two weeks left in the Christmas in July competition.
The Canowindra Phoenix is running the competition, and a strong panel of local judges has been put together to judge the decorations of each business that decorates its front window. The competition will run until the end of Sunday July 31, and the prize for the bestdressed shop will be a one-night getaway for two people at the famous Fairmont Resort in Leura, in the Blue Mountains.
Canowindra Phoenix Sales Manager Roselea Buttigieg said the competition was designed to get businesses to be festive in the middle of the year. “It’s a great way of creating some excitement
in Canowindra and bringing more people into the town centre as a result,” she said. “It also makes the town centre look more pretty and decorative, and it’s very easy to enter the competition. There is no paperwork involved; all businesses need to do is get decorating and put themselves on show!”
“Everyone is invited to get creative and dress up their windows, and the best dressed window will receive a night away for two people in the beautiful Blue Mountains!”
Neryle Smurthwaite, Canowindra High School Principal, Sharon Hawker, Canowindra Public School Princiapl, and Ken McNamara, Principal of St Edwards Catholic School, will be the three judges of the competition. Canowindra Newsagency owners Debbie Rice and Graham Rice won last year’s competition, and have entered again this year with another impressive display in their front window.
A high number of other businesses on Gaskill Street have also been busy decorating, so if you haven’t yet, make sure you do!
