The 2015 Parkes Elvis Festival is set to be bigger than ever with an estimated 18,000 people due to flock to the town! This time around the Festival celebrates Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday with a ‘Roustabout’ carnival theme to commemorate this special milestone. Held over five days from Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th January 2015, the 23rd annual Parkes Elvis Festival features a rockin’ program of over 150 shows and events.
Internationally acclaimed Elvis Tribute Artist Justin Shandor stars in the 2015 ClubsNSW Keno Feature Concert Series. US-born Shandor will perform four fantastic shows at Parkes Leagues Club across the Festival weekend with tickets available online and through the Club on 6862 1499. The Opening Night Party on Elvis Presley’s actual 80th birthday, will be a gala event fit for the King, featuring a three-course dinner and show starring Damian Mullin, the legendary Mark Andrew and Elvis aficionado Greg Page.
The NRMA Cooke Park Main Stage will be the centre of the action with four days of non-stop free entertainment and events. From Thursday to Sunday, don’t miss the bands, Elvis tribute artists and the fabulous competitions including McDonald’s rock’n’roll dancing, and junior and senior Elvis and Priscilla look-a-likes and sound-a-likes. There will be free night-time events aswell, with an outdoor screening of Roustabout on Thursday night and free Concerts in the Park on Friday and Saturday nights.
Parkes Elvis Festival is proud to present a brand-new precinct for 2015, The NRMA Festival Boulevard. From Friday to Sunday Clarinda Street in the Parkes CBD will be closed to traffic to create a pedestrian-friendly boulevard with market stalls, amusements, outdoor dining areas and the new Memphis Satellite Stage featuring free daylong entertainment.
Our most popular events return, including the TransTank Miss Priscilla Dinner, the Renewal of Vows ceremony, Poets’ Breakfast, the Busking Competition, the Elvis Edible Art Competition, the Northparkes Mines Street Parade, Cars of the Era show and the Elvis Gospel Service. The Elvis Wall of Fame will honour Australian rock legend Angry Anderson, who will unveil his plaque on Wednesday 7 January.
