2016 saw the largest number of volunteers ever for Canowindra International Balloon Challenge! Without this wonderful band of
people who came from all over NSW and further afield the event couldn’t have been organised.
A special mention to all those who worked tirelessly to help us after the rain washed us out in 2015, Alikinetic, the Pythons, their supporters, the volunteers of the Age of Fishes Museum and especially the students from Canowindra High School. These students worked as target team members, balloon crew, glow wand sellers and survey takers. You all helped to make our participants and spectators feel very welcome.
Thanks must also go to Amy, and her mother Lyn, from Central West Volunteers for organising the very enthusiastic band of volunteers.
This year we enlisted help from the supporters of ‘Raising the Roof for the Read triplets’ to man the gates at the Balloon Glow. With their help we were able to donate $1000 to the Read family towards their new home. Moorbel Hall committee also manned a gate and were the recipient of $200, and the Year 10 students, who did a magnificent job of cleaning up the sports ovals on Sunday morning, received $300. Most importantly not forgetting our local landholders whose properties are used to launch from and land on. Many should have received wine gifts sponsored by Toms Waterhole, Gardners Ground, Wallington Wines, Windowrie, and Rosnay our
Canowindra wineries. This is much appreciated. Once again, McClintock’s generously donated a Kubota brush cutter for the farmer’s draw.
Anyone who might like to volunteer for the 2017 event please register with us by emailing Jan flyingwinejan@gmail.com or Robyn robyn@federtationfotos.com.au
