An incredible three hundred people attended the Canowindra Garden Club Garden Expo on the weekend at “Gayton”, the beautiful property of Mark and Anne Ward, with all proceeds going towards Raising a Roof for the Read Triplets.
Guests wandered through the garden’s “rooms”, admiring the roses, Californian poppies, clarys sage and box elder trees, and two guest speakers – Elizabeth Swane and Sally Bourne – sharing their wealth of garden knowledge and experience.
“Gardening is good for the environment, and it’s good for mental and physical health,” said Anne. “We are about educating people and promoting the love of gardening.” Taking a quote from the Royal Horticultural Society of England, Anne says the Canowindra Garden Club “is driven by a desire to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the nation a greener, more beautiful place. We believe that everyone in every village, town and city should benefit
from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier and happier communities, and create better places to live. With your help we can harness the power of horticulture, one gardener at a time.”
The Club meet on the third Wednesday of the month and are always seeking new members. Call Robyn Cleary (Treasurer) on 6344 3103 to register your interest.
