The community is encouraged to be a part of the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge in 2021 by entering the many competitions and taking part in the parade.
Tommy Jeffs is busy preparing for the biggest event of the year: the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. As Patron of the event, he can be seen bustling down the streets, ensuring shops partake in the Window Decorating Competition. He is excited to be hosting a cocktail party at Montrose House, to introduce the Canowindra community to the balloonists.
“It is a chance for the locals to meet the balloonists. It will be a good excuse to dress up and have a night on the town,” said Tommy.
The evening of champagne and nibbles will be by invitation. Montrose House will be dressed up for the occasion, with a glowing balloon out the front. Tommy says the night will kick off the event and will set the tone.
“We want colour and brightness and noise,” said Tommy. “A real festival atmosphere. Taking it back to how it was originally.”
Tommy will also be hosting the street party on Saturday, 1 May and he is keen to see the people of Canowindra represented in the event, as formerly some felt the event was only for visitors. Tommy is calling for local kids to take part in the various competitions and the parade. Kids can decorate their bikes, dress up and take part in the parade by meeting at Memorial Park at 9:30am. Adults are encouraged to bake a cake for the Craft Shop’s Cake Competition.
“We want Canowindra on board. Let’s give a real country welcome to our visitors,” he finished.
