After having a bad start to the season the Pythons have secured their first win for the year. Within the first 2 minutes of the game Todd Wyburn was over the line getting Canowindra on the scoreboard first. Grenfell followed closely with a quick try making the scoreboard tight. Ben Schaefer had a great game scoring twice before half time leaving it at 19-5. In the second half Canowindra’s line dropouts let them down resulting in Grenfell having possession of the ball. With 15 minutes to go, Grenfell made a comeback with 2 tries making the score 19-17. With the Pythons close to the line Sean Wyburn broke through Grenfell’s defence and scores. Ben Schaefer converted. Tom Roth, Daniel Boyd and Tom English were strong in defence making some great tackles throughout the game. Alex Gavin also finished strong with some great work in the rucks. The final score was 26-17. 3 points and Player’s Player went to Ben Schaefer, 2 points to Sean Wyburn and 1 point to both Luke Watt and Daniel Boyd. Coach Adam Nash says, “Hopefully the boys can keep it up for the rest of the season”.
