The Rural Management Challenge Council, who consist of Jeanette Turner, Glenn Newman, Brian Parker, Melanie Monico and Deputy Mayor Allan Edwin travelled to Sydney last Thursday to attend the awards night. Blayney Shire Council was nominated for transforming the way in which a council does business and the focus on putting their customers and community at the heart of what they do through the ‘connecting with the community’ programme.

Blayney were up against a number of other councils, all with outstanding transformation programmes to build more sustainable organisations. Recognition to Blayney demonstrates the commitment, passion and energy of their staff. Councils from the Central West were also recipients of awards presented on the evening, with Cabonne Council announced winner of the Special Project Initiative for a Council population under 15,000 for the Organisational Capability Program and a Highly Commended Award for Excellence in Workforce Management for their Workforce Capability Program.

Parkes Shire Council was the winner of the Excellence in Community Services for a Council population less than 15,000 for their Education Support Centre at the Library. Congratulations to the staff at Blayney Shire and to everyone in the community.

The staff at the Council are very proud to be able to bring this award home to share it with the people of Blayney. The award will be on display in the Council Administration office so next time you drop by, make sure you come have a look and share in the success.
