Students Stun At Orange Run

2 March, 2016 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last Sunday students, parents and a very brave teacher from Canowindra Public School completed the Orange City Running Festival. The fourteen students had been attending running sessions held before school leading up to the event, organised by Alison Stephens. The students were entered in as a team and all completed the 5 kilometre run. They did a fantastic job and came in at 6th place in the team’s category.

A special mention should be made to Grace Pagett, who came fourth in the under 9 age group and to Deegan Hogan, who came first in the 10-11 year old category, finishing the run in an incredible 22 minutes! Overall, Deegan was placed 40th out of over 800 runners, an impressive feat for any age. Mrs Lloyd, Canowindra Public School’s Assistant Principal and Kindergarten and Year 1 teacher, completed the half marathon which covers a distance of 21 kilometres! Alison Stephens, President of the school’s P & C, also completed the half marathon and finished in third place!

Alison has kindly donated the $200 prize money to the school’s level 3 playground upgrade. The school is very proud of all the students, teachers and parents who attended and completed the run.
