Your Christmas Day

12 December, 2013 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Shop Local this Christmas

For those Christmas presents that aren’t being shipped directly from the North Pole this Christmas, shoppers are being encouraged to look no further than their local retailers.

Latest research suggests that buying local is important to Australian consumers, having a direct impact on local jobs, industry and small communities. Every dollar spent on locally made and grown products this Christmas helps improve the livelihoods of our growers and manufacturers, and on the standard of living of the wider community.

If you haven’t already done your gift shopping, there are plenty of local Canowindra shops that provide products suitable for wonderful gifts.

For those few last-minute food & beverage shoppers look no further than our local outlets. Support local whilst avoiding the queues…bonus!

Christmas Health & Survival Tips

Party Wisely – Only attend parties that are important, otherwise we wear busyness like a badge of honour and lose all of our energy. And don’t forget to get at least 8 hours sleep every night.

Buy ‘active’ presents – try sports gear, a new bike or even a kite! Anything that encourages physical activity is a winner!

Make friends with salad – Try not to fill up on Christmas puddings and roasted meats, eat in moderation and fill your plate up with delicious salads. Check out our recipe of the week for an idea!

Active catch-ups – Turn your Christmas party into a lively day full of activities so you don’t spend the whole day sitting down and eating. Participate in lawn bowls, backyard cricket or soccer competitions.

Enjoy – Don’t forget to enjoy yourself and create memories that last!
