Canowindra Dazzled by Christmas Display

12 December, 2013 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The countdown has begun! With 14 days to go, some of Canowindra’s residents have turned their yards and houses into amazing displays.

No one can miss the big Santa and array of Christmas lights showcased by Tom Beath on the corner of Mill Street. Every year Tom features one of the greatest Christmas light displays in Canowindra, and people from all over stop to have a look.

“Cars pile up at the front of our house trying to get photos and a good look – it’s amazing how many people the lights attract!” Tom’s daughter Amanda said.

His front yard features a 7 metre Santa, 12 metre Christmas Tree display, candy canes, gift boxes, reindeers, ‘Merry Christmas’ lights and more!

Could Tom be potentially starting a traditional Christmas light display, and could we, as a community come together and start our own tradition like Lobethal Valley in South Australia?

Lights of Lobethal are held every year with the community coming together and turning their yards into magnificent Christmas light displays .This is a 60 year old tradition and has now evolved into the largest community Christmas light display in the Southern Hemisphere.

Canowindra also have the ability to shine, as many other residents turn their houses into Christmas wonderlands during December. If you haven’t already, why not deck your house out this Christmas and spread a little Christmas spirit. If you need inspiration, go round and check out the fabulous Beath Christmas display!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!
