Jemalong Wool Weekly Update

Jemalong Wool Weekly Market Update Week ending: 16 October 2015

This week saw the NRI fall 25 cents in local currency terms, however in US dollar terms the market was generally unchanged.

Most of the change came on the opening day when fleece prices generally fell by 20 cents clean. The drop was followed up on Thursday by a supplementary dip of 5 to 10 cents. Despite the falls, the better types were well received, with most of the attention being focused on the better spec types. Non-mulesed types were also selectively sought, especially in Sydney where odd lots recorded solid premiums.

Recent buying patterns have opened up large price differentials where, in
the finer microns, the very sound types can receive premiums of 100 cents.

In other sectors there were similar losses; Merino Skirtings and Merino
Cardings both fell 20 to 30 cents. Crossbreds also lost around 20 to 30
cents for the volume microns but were as much as 60 cents cheaper in the
finer ranges (25/26).
