Swimming Club…Hot Weather Matches Hot Effort

21 January, 2015 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Hot weather greeted the final swimming club of 2014 and the swimmers efforts were just as hot. Cameron Wheeler dropped 2 seconds off his 25m freestyle in the Spoon semis. In the final it was a photo finish as Cameron swam another 2 second PB to take home the Spoon just 3 hundredths ahead the flying ambo, Paul Sinfield, in lane six. Matilda Cramp smashed her 25m freestyle time by 8 seconds in the Spoon semi and then followed that up by a 7 second improvement in her 25m breaststroke time. Taking home the pennants with Matilda were Laura Flannery, Lillian Harrison, Samantha Flannery, Georgie Fisher and Tom Mitchell.
Holidays lowered the numbers to about 36 swimmers for the Spoon. Cameron Wheeler took out his second Spoon in consecutive swimming clubs as he held off Josie Clements in second and Hugh Breen in third place. The relay was over in about one and a half minutes as four swimmers in six lanes thrashed the water to foam. Triumphing in lane 4 were Hugh Breen, Bill Harrison, Georgie Fisher and Kye Reid.
