#whoRU protecting This White Balloon Day?

Next Wednesday, August 20th, is the official launch of the #whoRUprotecting selfie campaign. This campaign is part of the national annual White Balloon Day on September 12th that raises funds to protect Aussie kids from sexual assault. The campaign, created by the charity Bravehearts, asks Canowindra residents this question, who are you protecting?
It might be your son, daughter, niece or nephew, or perhaps even all children in the town. Now in its 18th year, White Balloon Day aims to raise funds so they can deliver vital education, counselling and training to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston is urging all Australians to take a selfie to show support, “child sexual assault is preventable… let’s do this as a nation.”
A host of television and sporting talent have already jumped on board including James Courtney and Matt Doran. The concept is simple; you write whoever you protect on your hand, pose for a selfie then send to a social networking site with the hashtag #whoRUprotecting. By doing this you’re helping raise awareness of White Balloon Day, when a range of fund-raising events will be held across the country. If you would like to know more about hosting an event on this day head to www.whiteballoonday.com.au, or if you need to talk to someone about abuse call Bravehearts on 1800272831. 1 in 5 kids will be sexually assaulted in some way before their 18th birthday. Please help Bravehearts stop child sexual assault in your community and strike a pose.
