Popular Seeker Markets Heads To Orange For Its First Away Game

Seeker Markets is heading to Orange. After three successful markets in Canowindra, the Central West’s fashion market is playing its first away game at Banksia on Sunday, 15 November, as Seeker supporters picked the location.

Sisters Morgan and Courtney started Seeker Markets because they wanted the kind of fashion market they loved in Sydney and Melbourne closer to home. Nearly 600 people came through the third Canowindra market in August, up from 400 at the one before. The Orange stalls are already booked out, and a bigger venue means room for a bigger crowd.

“We had nearly 600 people through our last Canowindra market, so we’re really excited to have a bigger venue this time. We think even more people will come,” said cofounder Courtney.

“The stalls are booked out already and we’ve got some amazing stallholders,” said co-founder Morgan. “We love supporting local businesses too. People make a day of it. They shop with us, then head off for lunch and a look around, and that spreads the love around town.”

Among them are artist Whitney Spicer of the FAR MER label, and some of the Parlour O team, who have joined forces for a stall the market founders are already calling dibs on.

Stallholders do well out of it too. At past markets, one hit her sales target in the first 30 minutes and another went home with more than $1,000 for the morning. It beats photographing, listing and messaging buyers online. You bring the clothes you’re not wearing, spend the morning with friends and leave with cash.

For shoppers, it’s a mix of fashion labels in one hit. Vintage denim, statement jackets, going- out pieces and racks of labels at a fraction of retail.
