Celebrating 900 Issues Of The Canowindra Phoenix

21 October, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

This week, the Canowindra Phoenix reaches an extraordinary milestone: our 900th issue! For years, our mission has remained steadfast—to serve as a vibrant community publication dedicated entirely to sharing positive, uplifting local news.

The Phoenix as you know and love it today was reignited by Cheryl Newsom, whose vision established its signature focus on celebrating the best of our region. That legacy of local storytelling was proudly carried forward by Sarah Maynard, who continued the paper’s growth and success. Josh Matic then took the reins, keeping the publication running seamlessly in its cherished format.

Today, the Canowindra Phoenix is published under Roundbox Media led by Director, Debra Clarke. Together with Lisa Brien, Michelle Clarke, Ken Moon and Daniel Stuut as our core editorial team, we are deeply embedded in our region, volunteering our time with both the Canowindra Progress Association and the iconic Canowindra International Balloon Challenge. Our passion for the town ensures the paper remains authentically local at heart.

Reaching 900 editions is a collective achievement.

The entire Phoenix teamwould like to take this special opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to every advertiser and every single reader.

We simply would not be here without the unwavering backing of our valued local advertisers, the fantastic story contributions from community members, and the wonderful towns we are privileged to support each week. Your trust, enthusiasm, and partnership are what make this paper possible week after week.

Thank you for letting us share your triumphs, events, and everyday milestones.

We are honoured to be your voice, and look forward to bringing you the next 900 issues!
