In a very tight semi-final against rivals Eugowra last Saturday, the Tigeresses unfortunately couldn’t maintain their composure and discipline to hand the semi-final win to Eugowra 18 points to 14.
The Tigeresses scored early with a good try to Addison Newcombe from dummy half.
The conversion attempt was unsuccessful and the Tigeresses took the lead 4-0. Eugowra hit back in the 19th minute of the first half to score a try. The goal kicker was off the mark and the scores were locked up at 4 all.
The game was very entertaining with both sides defending well and a couple of occasions the Tigeresses went close to scoring, only to be tagged a couple of metres short or the line. The Tigeresses probably were marginally on top but in the 27th minute Eugowra posted their second try to lead 8-4 at the break.
Three minutes into the second half, Adison Newcombe scored again 15m to the right of the post to lock the scores up at 8 all. Unfortunately, the kick hit the upright, so the deadlock remained. Laura Price’s speed shone out as she sped away to score under the post which was converted to lead 14-8 with 12 minutes to go.
The Tigeresses discipline gave way a couple of penalties allowing Eugowra to get back down into their territory and allowing them to score to narrow the margin to only two points. The Tigeresses failed to control the ball in the last stages of the game and gave away a penalty in kicking distance just 3 minutes from full time. Eugowra sealed the match with a late try in the corner with only a minute 30 left on the clock to steal the win away from the Tigeresses.
