Men’s Bowls

Last weekend there were two finals played.

On Saturday was the major pairs match between Glen Seton and Deb Hood and opponents David Beath and Peter Taylor. A close match was anticipated and proved the case early in the game. David and Peter came home with a wet sale to win.

In a major triples match Ben Rooke, Tony Tuimauga and Corey Rooke matched up against Mathew Lawrence, Eryn Traves (sub) Steve Fisher. With Barney unavailable due to injury it was expected Ben’s team would have a strong chance of winning, but this was not the case. The match was fairly close all the way through with Teddy’s team coming away with a victory in the later stages.

On Sunday the final of Minor Triples was played. The two Jamie’s teamed up with Eryn Traves to defeat Michael and Graham Traves and Greg Chester. The winners were always in front and held a five shot advantage going into the 19th end 17/12.

Michael held two shots with Eryn having a bowl in the hand, and any movement of the Jack could prove a major blow to Michael’s team’s chances. Eryn let her bowl go with good weight and dragged the Jack back for a count of 3 shots, this gave them a solid lead 20/12 with two ends to play.

This week we have another major triples match on Saturday 25 July at 12 midday between Roger, Peter Taylor and Dool versus Michael, Graham and Brad. Depending on results, a second round game may be played on Sunday at 12pm.

On Sunday the final of Minor Pairs will be played at 2pm between Greg and Marc versus Lisa and Keith.

Badge draws for this week are Wednesday $350, Friday $300 and Sunday $750.
