Competition games commenced on Thursday 9 July, with Lisa and K Jones having a win over Mick and Graham.The newcomers to competition bowls played extremely well throughout the match.
On the weekend Glen and Deb defeated Teddy and Barney in the Major Singles semifinal. Deb had a blinder, proving the the difference in the match. She was well supported by partner Glen. A five count on the 13 end gave them a commanding lead which Teddy and Barney couldn’t catch, going down 21/17.
Graham, Greg and Michael eventually had a convincing win on Sunday in the Minor Triples. Tracey,Tia and Corey played well, holding shot on several occasions, only for Michael, Graham or Greg to draw to the head to win the end.
The final of the Major Pairs will be played this Saturday 18 July at 12pm. This will be a great match with Deb and Glen up against Dool and Peter. Both teams are in good form.
Hopefully the Minor Pairs can also be played on Saturday at a time to be advised.
This match between Lisa and K Jones and Marc and Greg, may have to be transferred to the following weekend due to commitments of players.
Major triples match between Ben,Corey and Tony versus Teddy,Steve and Barney is set down for Saturday at 1 pm.
Minor Triples will be played on Sunday at 12pm with Jamie S, Jamie G and Eryn versus Michael, Graham and Greg. This is the final of the competition and a close game is anticipated.
Hopefully we can have the Major Triples and O’Brien Cup games finished shortly as players are committed to tournament competition coming up in August.
The Canowindra club is co-hosting the Breakout Pairs, helping out the Cowra Bowling Club. This is a great event with multiple forms of pairs games over the weekend. There will be a bus commuting from Cowra to Canowindra and back. Play is set down on the weekend of 8 and 9 August.
Badge draws for this week are Wednesday $300, Friday $200 and Sunday $700.
