Canowindra To Host MDMA Comunity Forum

11 February, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is reaching out to community members, organisations, businesses, and stakeholders to meet with Senior Executives from the Murray Darling Basin Authority in a drop-in session at the following venues on Monday, 23 February:

• Blayney Eco-Hub, 1 Glasson St, Blayney from midday until 2.30 (lunch provided)

• Delice Cafe, Tilga Street, Canowindra from 3.30pm until 5.30pm (refreshments provided)

The Murray Darling Basin Plan is undergoing a formal review and this consultation is a key opportunity for communities across the Basin to influence how the Plan develops into the future. This event is designed to ensure the community is informed, prepared, and supported to take part in that process.

By attending, you will:

• Gain a clear, plain-English understanding for the Basin Plan Review and what it means for the region

• Understand how the public consultation process will work in 2026

• Learn how to prepare and lodge a submission — as an individual, business, or community group

• Receive practical guidance and support to make the submission process as simple as possible

• Have an opportunity to ask questions directly to MDBA staff.

The MDBA is seeking local knowledge, lived experience, and community perspectives to inform the Basin Plan Review.

They are encouraging:

• Individuals and groups to share what matters most in their area

• Feedback on what is working well and what could be improved

• Thoughtful submissions that reflect local priorities and future needs.

Please contact Peter Thomas, Regional Engagement Officer for MDBA on 0419 038 929 or email peter.thomas@mdba.gov.au to confirm your attendance.
