Dear Madam,
The Perth Bears have entered the 2027 NRL Competition.
Over the holidays, via “Trove” [National Library of Australia] I read an article from the Orange Leader of 25/2/1929 on Jack Kelly, who was heading to North Sydney to play Rugby League with that Club. Thought this would interest your readers. It read:
“Jack Kelly for Sydney – Jack Kelly , the dashing wing three quarter of the Canowindra Rugby League Football Club, which has not suffered defeat for the Jack Hall Gold Cup, has joined up with the North Sydney Club. A player of fine physique, brilliant and fleet of foot and also a genuine sportsman. Kelly was outstanding in every match he played with Canowindra team and by his absence a conspicuous gap will manifest in the back division of the holders of the Jack Hore Gold Cup this season. His place will be hard to fill.”
Yours in Sport,
Tony Hardman
