Follow the Cabonne Women Writers on Facebook for information on future events and competitions.

The 2025 Cabonne Women Writers Open Writing Awards presentation was held at the Cabonne Community Centre in Molong last week. Congratulations to the following award recipients:

• Open Writing Award: Alicia Maskley for Cassowary

• Highly Commended: Guinevere Dickie for The World was Still Turning

• Highly Commended: Em Thompson for Bylines and Backroads

• Highly Commended: Karen Redlich for A Family Establishment

The theme for the Cabonne Women Writers 2025 Open Writing Competition was Coming Home, which called on regional wordsmiths to reflect, imagine, and share what Coming Home means to them.

The competition was open to writers aged 16+ living in rural or remote Australia and all submissions had to be under 500 words.

The competition was coordinated with the support of Central West Libraries. Thanks to Collins Booksellers Orange for donating the Lucky Writers’ Prize which was won by Marian Warden.
