Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant has announced his support for White Ribbon Night 2014 on Friday July 25. The Canowindra Phoenix along with Troy Grant are calling on residents to get involved in this important event.
“White Ribbon Night invites communities across Australia to unite in support of bringing an end to violence against women by having a night in to get the word out about the importance of standing up to end violence against women,” Mr Grant said.
“We all like to think that our family, friends, neighbours and ourselves are safe at home. Most of us would believe this to be a basic human right but sadly, for many, this is not always the case. On average, one woman is killed every week by a current or former partner in Australia. And one in four young Australians are exposed to domestic violence”.
“This year’s theme is ‘Have a night in to get the word out’.
“White Ribbon Night is very important to help raise awareness and understanding of domestic violence and violence against women..
