The Canowindra Lions Need Your Help

29 October, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Canowindra Lion’s Club is raising funds for a new catering van.

The outdated Canowindra Lion’s catering van is a common sight at local events, and you would be hard-pressed to find someone in Canowindra who has not enjoyed a sausage or rissole sandwich, or just a chat with the familiar Canowindra Lion’s volunteers over the years. The Canowindra Lion’s Club has been providing vital support to the Canowindra community for nearly 60 years and now they need your support.

The Canowindra Lion’s Club is raising funds to replace their outdated 1966 catering van which is no longer suitable for regular community use.

Earlier this year, the Lion’s Club entered into a agreement with a company to build and supply a new catering van and after years of fundraising, paid $36,000 towards the van project. Shockingly, just days after the money was paid, the company went into liquidation and the money was lost.

The Lion’s Club currently does not have a usable catering van to continue their crucial work in our community such as Driver Reviver and many other community functions where the van is used to raise funds to support our local community and Lions Foundation Charities.

A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up to raise the funds for a new catering van that will allow our Lion’s volunteers to continue to carry out their important community work safely and efficiency.

The target amount is $10,000 and a current total of $2,811 has been raised. All donations will go directly towards the purchase of a new catering van and any donation will be greatly appreciated.

Let’s help the Canowindra Lion’s Club get back on the road and continue their service to our community. Donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/f/fundraising-for-acatering-trailer
