JP Gets ‘Uncomfortable’ For Charity

29 October, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

JP with Nedd Brockmann at Canowindra’s Swinging Bridge last Saturday.

Nedd Brockmann, the sparkie from Forbes, shot to National fame by running across Australia in 2022, covering nearly 4,000km from Perth to Sydney in 46 days, fundraising for people experiencing homelessness.

Brockmann continues to raise funds and awareness through running and other projects, with the goal of raising a total of $10 million for We Are Mobilise. He has inspired other people to start their own fundraising by participating in Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge.

“There’s no better feeling than pushing yourself to the limit and doing it not just for yourself but for someone else,” said Nedd Brockmann.

Enter team JP and James – the duo of well known local identity JP (John Payten) and James Ward, who teamed up to raise money by completing their own uncomfortable challenges. JP committed to walking 30 minutes on a treadmill every day for 10 days, and on October 15, James knocked out a huge 72km run.

Last Saturday, Nedd Brockmann was in Canowindra as part the Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge ‘Road Trip’ to walk for 30 minutes with JP along the river path at the Swinging Bridge. The day was well attended by local residents, all keen to show their support and meet the inspiring Nedd Brockmann.

Team JP and James set out with a fundraising goal of $15,000 but at the time of publication, have hit an incredible total of $23,086. All proceeds from donations and fundraising for Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge go to We Are Mobilise Limited, to help people in Australia facing homelessness. Congratulations to JP and James!
