Canowindra Golf Club

24 September, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Congratulations to Helen McSpadden who won the Sponsors Day Women’s Longest Drive and the Women’s Nearest the Pin.

Sunday’s Par Three competition at Canowindra Golf Club drew a field of twelve golfers for a challenging and enjoyable day on the course. The event was taken out by Maureen Lawrence, who claimed first place with a steady round. Helen Kemper finished runner-up, capping off a strong performance of her own. The club thanks Sea Saw Wines for their generous sponsorship of the day.

Attention now turns to next weekend, when the club will host the Ron Greentree Memorial Day 4BBB v Stableford, proudly sponsored by the Greentree family. The event is always a highlight on the calendar and promises another strong turnout.

In addition to the Sunday play, Friday’s Course Sign Sponsors Day proved a major success, attracting a field of forty-four golfers. The winning team on the day was Conway Rural, Sam Conway, Dan Smith, and Will with the Cargo Crew of Wayne, Steve, and Mitch taking out the runner-up spot.

Individual prizes went to Wallace Stranger for longest drive in the men’s competition, and Helen McSpadden for the ladies. McSpadden also claimed nearest the pin for the women, while Dave Carman collected nearest the pin honours for the men.

The club extends its thanks to all players, supporters and volunteers who made the week such a success, and looks forward to another big week of golf ahead.

The Sponsors Day Bradman’s Prize went to the team of Mitch, Blue and Tony.

The Canowindra Golf Club Sponsors Day was a show of appreciation and thanks to the club’s sponsors and dedicated volunteers who keep the course in amazing condition for everyone to enjoy.
