Glossy black-cockatoos.

Glossy black-cockatoos are a favourite amongst conservationists and the broader community. They are well known for their gentle nature, quirky behaviour and distinct colouration.

And they could very well become your favourite after you join the Great Inland Glossy Count at Goobang National Park on Saturday 25 October.

The annual count provides valuable information on the size and extent of the glossy black- cockatoo population across these areas.

Interested in volunteering in this year’s count to help make inland glossies great again? All you need is a pair of binoculars, a keen eye for birds, and a chair to spend a few hours making observations by a potential glossy watering hole.

To improve your glossy watching skills check out the below video, and for a deep swoop into glossy identification download the BirdLife Australia Field Guide from birdlife.org.auThe annual count is a key community participation activity part of the Make Inland Glossies Great Again Project, funded by the NSW Environmental Heritage Trust and Saving our Species Program.
