ANZAC Day is such an important day in the life of Canowindra and the Canowindra RSL sub-Branch is happy and proud to again organise the commemorations this year.
The Canowindra RSL sub-Branch will be outside Lawrence’s IGA on Thursday 17 April raising funds for the operation of the sub-Branch which hosts ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, your support would be greatly appreciated.
The program for ANZAC Day, Friday 25 April, will start with the Dawn Service in Memorial Park, Gaskill Street Canowindra at 6am followed by a Gun Fire breakfast in the Canowindra Services and Citizen Club.
There will be a small wreath-laying ceremony at the Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital at 9am, this small commemoration acknowledges the hospital’s status as a war memorial and pays tribute to the Honour Rolls housed in the hospital foyer.
The main service will commence at 11am in Memorial Park once the march has concluded.
If you intend to march, please meet in Ryall Street near the Junction Hotel at 10:30am to form up and march off approximately 10:40am. Just a reminder about medal protocol, if you are wearing someone else’s medals they are to be worn on the right-hand side.
If you would like to lay a wreath at the main service in Memorial Park, please see Jenny or Tracy at the main gate and have your name marked off or added to the list before the main service begins.
