The Art Mentoring students for 2025 are excited to invite you to join them as they show off their artwork. The exhibition will be held for one night only, this Saturday 12 April, in the Nangar Room of Canowindra Services Club at 6pm.
This year the Art Mentoring group was convened in first term with a group of nine young art enthusiasts attended every week for nine consecutive weeks. The course has been offered to keen young artists for over 10 years by art teacher Sue Hodge, who is very proud of the students work, saying “My favourite lesson has become paint pouring, it gets very messy but its lots of fun.”
The course has produced many great art pieces over the years and some students have gone on to study art as their major subject at university. Additionally, for the last several years students from Canowindra Art Mentoring course have won awards in the Cabonne Art Prize.
The lessons cover most art mediums, and it is hoped that the students throughout the course will discover which art form they feel most comfortable with, and then they may go on to enjoy art for life.
“I’m a big believer that being creative helps with our very well-being. Giving our children the chance to enhance their creative side in any form is going to help them in definite ways.
“The world is a challenge as it is, so please join me in encouraging these young artists,” says Mrs Hodge.
