Letter From The Editor

2 April, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The 2025 Federal Election has now been called and the date scheduled is Saturday, 3 May 2025.

In the lead up to this important day, the Canowindra Phoenix will be publishing a series of articles about the election and what is involved in the lead up to, and then what happens on election day.

Election day will be particularly busy in Canowindra this year. The Canowindra International Balloon Festival will be in full swing and the town will see an increase of visitors, particularly that weekend with the Home Ground Sounds Concert happening on the Friday night, 2 May. Then moving into Saturday 3 May for the Key Grab Challenge, The CWA Breakfast, The Street Parade and then the Cabonne Community Glow – with gates opening at 3pm.

The Canowindra Progress Association has been running a series of Meet The Candidate Sessions for the community to come along and meet those individuals who are running in the 2025 election. The sessions provide the opportunity for the community to meet directly with the people who may be representing us in Canberra.

Kate Hook and Sam Farraway have both participated in the Meet and Greet sessions and the 7 April will see Andrew Gee coming along to the Canowindra Services Club at 6pm for his chance to meet the community of Canowindra and surrounding towns. We encourage everyone to come along and be informed on the issues that matter most to you.

If you have any questions about this election or have questions about how the voting process works, we encourage you to contact us at the Phoenix Office and we can ask the candidates directly on your behalf, and publish the answers each week.

You can also visit the Australian Electoral Commission website at www.aec.gov.au for additional information.
