The new Swinging Bridge has been completed.
Canowindra CBD Activation Project Update: The Canowindra Belubula Riverwalk project, including the new Swinging Bridge is now open for community use. Bridge contractors have completed the installation of remaining handrails and stairs, with stage 1 of landscaping now also complete, including mulching, planting mature trees and plants near the river, and turfing of select areas.
Stage 2 of landscaping, which includes planting the remaining beds, is scheduled for Autumn with the involvement of local volunteers and Council. Additional trees have been ordered for planting along the Riverwalk. Fencing work has been finalised and installation of solar bollards, vehicle access bollards, lighting on the bridge, and furniture will be completed in coming weeks.
The project was jointly funded, by the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program and the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions program.
Heatwave Tips From St John Ambulance: With mercury set to soar with the impending heatwave people of NSW are urged to stay hydrated and aware of heat-related issues. Often we recognise symptoms of dehydration such as headaches, fatigue and mental fog, however at this point dehydration has already set in. To help prepare, St John Ambulance Australia have shared the following tips:
1. Prevention is better than treatment – drink hydrating fluids often
2. Avoid excessive dehydrating drinks like caffeine or alcohol
3. Protect yourself from sun exposure during peak daylight hours
4. Avoid eating salty snacks that may dehydrate you and try to eat hydrating foods such as fruits and vegetables
With Thanks: Gloria, Alfred, John, Norm and Katrina would like to thank Dr Bullock, all nurses and staff with a special thank you to Nurse Cindy, of the Canowindra Hospital. You all took the greatest care of David Langford whilst he stayed in hospital and in his final days.
