Men’s Bowls

15 January, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

We hope everyone had a great festive season and thanks to all our members and guests for making it a special one for the club. Over this time we have had many playing social bowls, especially at the Friday twilight bowls.

Friday night twilight bowls is played every week, with names in before 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The cost to play six ends, three bowls (pairs or triples depending on numbers) is just $10 and there are prizes for first and second place. Courtesy bus running. Thursday afternoon bowls also had many playing and the jackpot is growing. Don’t forget to get names in for both events.

During the break we had two finals of competition bowls. The consistency final between Greg Chester and Ben Rooke was even at the start of the game, but Ben eventually had a convincing win 150

to 125. Congratulations to both players reaching the final. Greg is a new bowler to the club and to reach the final was marvellous achievement.

The final of the minor fours was also played with Jamie Grant, Michael Traves, Graham Traves and Crock Watt securing a good win over Cristy Webb-Sullivan, Caine Rooke, Nigel Knight and Bob Cann. It was good to see new bowlers entering the club competitions. Well done to all players.

In other bowls news, the Worboys Memorial Pairs has a full complement of teams for the upcoming competition on 26 January, 2025.

The Anniversary Triples has also been well supported, with only two position remaining. This a great response to our tournament and pleasing for the many great sponsors who support our events.

Badge draws are Wednesday $950, Friday $300, Sunday $150. Good bowling!i
