It is good news indeed to learn that a large dam will be constructed at ‘The Needles’ on the Belubula River. Over 5o years ago several suitable sites were investigated including ‘The Needles’. An adequate water storage would enable farmers, irrigators and Central Western towns to have a permanent supply on the Belubula River, which would also assist the Lachlan Valley in providing water for Forbes, Parkes and beyond. I believe this is an important step to boost food production and help drought-proof our country.
