Canowindra is once again scrubbing up to be a must-visit destination in the lead up to Christmas. Aside from a range of specialty shops offering all sorts of Christmas gift ideas, the collaborative effort to decorate the main street will create a festive atmosphere not to be missed.
The wonderful Christmas Night Market on 29th November will see the unveiling of a new concept: a Christmas story that winds through the main street.
Decorated shop windows have become a real standout in Gaskill St in the lead up to Christmas, with a walk up and down the shops becoming a family tradition. Some shops really bring on the glitter – the outstanding Cobwebs and Curios even have their resident live Christmas elf, Buddy, brightening the street! Perennialle Plants has tried to take on the old David Jones tradition, offering storybased window displays like the Narnia story and the Velveteen Rabbit for young and old to enjoy.
When business owners and friends, Deb Guihot (The Plague and I) and Nerida Cuddy (Perennialle Plants) realised they had landed on the same story theme for this year’s Christmas windows, the creative ideas began to flow. Why not collaborate, and make a progressive display that would tell the whole story as people followed it down the street? Adding local Christmas enthusiast Tommy Jeffs to the mix sealed the deal.
Numbered story boards and three scenes from the famous story will be found, beginning in Melissa Barber’s Gallery, all the way up to its finale in Perennialle. All will be revealed on 29th November, but the fun will continue right through to Christmas.
